Community Outreach & Resource Planning Specialist , US Department of Labor

Thomas Carroll has worked for the federal government for 33 years. The last 16 years he has been as an Investigator the U.S. Department of Labor, Wage, and Hour Division. Thomas has most recently become a Community Outreach and Resource Planning Specialist. He has completed hundreds of cases in the hospitality industry and has accompanied the Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission with presentations to restaurant owners and other management in cities and towns throughout Massachusetts. Thomas’ expertise includes common wage and hour violations, and what to expect from a Wage and Hour Investigation. He also specializes in employee payments, minimum wage, overtime issues, overtime exemptions, misclassification of employee vs. independent contractors, record keeping requirements, and child labor regulations specific to the hospitality industry.

Thomas is a graduate of Tufts University, is fluent in Spanish, and a life-long resident of the Boston area.
