As Justin Brody, one of Punch Drink’s 2024 Best New Bartenders, transitioned from cooking in fine dining kitchens to tending bar, a clear creative shift became apparent to him: Cocktails can have an identity beyond their ingredients and tells their own story. They can take you someplace exotic, make you feel however you want to feel, evoke a style of art or design, be anything you want them to be.
While Head Bartender at The Port of Call in Mystic, CT, Justin found the most success by transforming an inspired concept or experience into a delicious drink. This took shape as menu selections and bespoke cocktails made for guests a-la-minute. For this demonstration, Justin will be preparing a signature drink of his own design, The Greenthumb Daiquiri, a Cuban-style, hand-shaken fix with a bit of a twist. The drink has a rotating selection of seasonal fresh herbs built into it making it always unique, refreshing, and chic.
